چکیده

Absolute absorption cross-sections of ozone have been measured at ambient (295 K) and low temperature (218 K) in the visible region corresponding to the Chappuis bands. The temperature effect has been studied and found to be very small. The minimum of the absorption between the Hartley and the Chappuis bands is observed for the first time at 377,5 nm.

Absolute ozone absorption cross section in the Huggins Chappuis minimum (350–470 nm) at 296 K

We report the ozone absolute absorption cross section between 350–470 nm, the minimum between the Huggins and Chappuis bands, where the ozone cross section is less than 10−22 cm2. Ozone spectra were acquired using an incoherent broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectrometer, with three channels centered at 365, 405, and 455 nm. The accuracy of the measured cross section is 4–30 %, with the g...

The UV and visible spectra of chlorine peroxide : constraining the atmospheric photolysis rate

The photolysis of chlorine peroxide (ClOOCl) is a key chemical step in the depletion of polar stratospheric ozone. As such, precise measurements of the absorption cross sections for ClOOCl are required. In this paper we provide two critical pieces of laboratory data with which to constrain the rate of ozone depletion. First, we provide an optically pure ClOOCl spectrum in the photolytically imp...

Measurements of the Weak UV Absorptions of Isoprene and Acetone at 261–275 nm Using Cavity Ringdown Spectroscopy for Evaluation of a Potential Portable Ringdown Breath Analyzer

The weak absorption spectra of isoprene and acetone have been measured in the wavelength range of 261-275 nm using cavity ringdown spectroscopy. The measured absorption cross-sections of isoprene in the wavelength region of 261-266 nm range from 3.65 × 10⁻²¹ cm².molecule⁻¹ at 261 nm to 1.42 × 10⁻²¹ cm².molecule⁻¹ at 266 nm; these numbers are in good agreement with the values reported in the lit...

Accurate measurements of ozone absorption cross-sections in the Hartley band

Ozone plays a crucial role in tropospheric chemistry, is the third largest contributor to greenhouse radiative forcing after carbon dioxide and methane and also a toxic air pollutant affecting human health and agriculture. Long-term measurements of tropospheric ozone have been performed globally for more than 30 years with UV photometers, all relying on the absorption of ozone at the 253.65 nm ...
